Grey Matters

Just completed a simple Grey 3pak. from a s-t-r-e-t-c-h-y rayon and lycra mix.  My favourite slim pull-on pants “My Swing Set”  and the shell and jacket from “Pure and Simple” (oop) from Cutting Edge Designs.  I am  trying to make some simple  elegant clothes with a “go anywhere” feel .   This fabric has a really nice hand with lots of drape and with the stretch is very comfortable to wear.  I am thinking it will make  good “flying clothes”.

I completed the shell and pants first.  I really wanted a soft shirt but felt the fabric did not want to become cuffs or collar stands.  The Pure and Simple jacket was perfect choice and I could use both sides of the fabric to add a little interest.  I have made this jacket twice before and blogged about the one  here .    I had a bit of a dilemma about the pockets….I had the concealed pockets cut out but was unsure because of the stretchy nature of the fabric and decided to use patch pockets instead.   I used french seams for the sleeves (think it looks better when you roll the sleeves up) and side seams and finished the front facing with white silk bias binding.

Cost  :   I think I paid about $5xmetre  ( it was part of deceased tailors’ estate) plus buttons.

Time  :  The top and pants about 3hours and the jacket about 4
